Day 142

Today I went to work with Daddy. Although it was a struggle to get out of bed... Haha! We stayed up and watched shows last night (then exercised) so I was tiiiiiired this morning! However, Dad convinced me to go anyways. I'm so glad I did!!

I got to talk to everyone about their holiday and got to tell about mine. We also had delicious cupcakes from Shannon Takes the Cake!!! They were champagne and probably some of the best I've ever eaten!

I actually got quite a bit done today. I called about my student loans and got that all straightened out, I planned a parent meeting, I found another awesome fundraiser, I coordinated some outings, and I started my book! Like I said... A lot!! I feel very accomplished.

After school, Dad helped me sit on my new exercise ball and I practiced some standing. Next, I played some CS:GO (computer game) online. Then Mom got home, we ate, watched the last of our recorded shows (Rachel vs. Guy Celebrity Cook-off), I exercised, and went to bed.

I'm going to take a moment to reflect. I looked at pictures from the wreck today. I was reminded how far I have come. It still sucks that I was in a wreck and it's not fair that I have to change my whole life, but I'm trying very hard to deal with it. I cry when I need to. I laugh when I want to. I work hard always. My parents are amazing. I have known this for a while; I'm not going to lie and say always... Haha! For some reason I was thinking about getting released for rehab and essentially the hospital atmosphere. Mom and (especially) Dad have been the most supportive and helpful people in the world! Dad has taken me anywhere and everywhere I have wanted to go. He hates shopping and traffic, but put up with it for me over the break; to make me happy. He really hasn't told me "no" when I've wanted him to take me somewhere. Mom hasn't either, but Mom loves shopping and running errands! Ha! I am so blessed to have my family and support system behind me. I could not have done this without them.

And that's my life...

Day 141

This morning we went to church. I received my first communion on a first Sunday in a church in a while (yes that's a weird sentence... Haha!). I loved it!

After church we went to Chili's for lunch and ran into two old friends while I was there. It's always nice to see familiar faces when I'm out and about! We caught up a little, then went about our business.

When we got home, I took a quick nap before my first night back (on an actual meeting night) as youth director!! I really have missed my kids. We talked about rules and what we want to do for the year. It was informative and helpful.

When I got home from youth, we ate dinner and watched the last of our Covert Affairs. We are almost done with all of our shows!!

And that's life...

Day 140

This morning I got up and got ready so I could meet a friend for lunch (I drove). We talked over youth plans and enjoyed some excellent conversation! I'm trying to decide what to do for the rest of January and February. Also, we looked for a curriculum we liked.

After that, I went home so a friend could visit me. We haven't seen each other in a while, so we had a lot to catch up on. We swapped some college tales. It was so so nice to see her. She brought me some really pretty cross earrings and lip gloss!

Next, I played my new game for a while. We ate a most delicious dinner, then caught up on some Covert Affairs.

And that's life...

Day 139

This morning I woke up and put my pants on one leg at a time. Yes, that's right, I said pants. Ha! I wore jeans for the first time today! Actually, it was a day of firsts.

I also drove a car for the first time today since the wreck! Notice how not nervous Dad looks. He said it's because we can't see his eyes... Right. He was very patient with me. I took Dad to the pharmacy, lunch (Subway), and the DMV. Why the DMV? I needed to renew my license (which expired while I was in the hospital). This is the first time as an amputee. Duh. We didn't even have to wait that long.

When we got home, I played my game with my new keyboard and mouse. It totally didn't help my game, though. Ha! I still suck. I also worked on a new calendar for my youth children.

We ended the night by watching Elementary, eating dinner, and being us.

And that's my stupendous life!

Day 138

Today I had lunch with a very special and good friend! I forgot to take pictures... Ugh. Anyways, we had a delicious meal and talked about so much!! I have really missed her! I'm glad we got to hang out. Also, I transferred into and out of her car. Yeah, I'm getting more awesome by the day. Hahaha!

After lunch, the guy came to fit me for my custom wheelchair. He was super nice! I'm so excited to get my own chair!! I know I won't be in one forever, but it will be nice to have one "just in case". Plus, I might take up wheelchair sports. Haha! It should be interesting.

I went to PT today. We practiced standing and balancing. We worked on my "core" by balancing on a ball (pics are below). Please note the apprehension on my face prior to sitting on the ball. Also, smiling equals nervous laughter. Haha! This is hard enough with two legs, but I found out I can do it with one. Like I said, more awesome by the day...

After that, Dad took me to Best Buy and we got a new mouse and keyboard. Then we went home, had dinner, and finished up Vampire Diaries and started Elementary. Great end to a great day!!

And that's life...

Day 137

I woke up this morning, showered, got dressed and ready, and we were of to see the ortho. He took out the rest of my stitches and said I'm still making progress!! Woohoo!

On our way home, we went to Hobby Lobby. I got stuff to make some new crafty items. I'm going to try painting!! We also stopped by Wal-mart to get me a desk.

We went home and assembled my desk. Peggy helped; check out the pics. I got some OT in by helping Dad. Mom made us some lunch and we ate it while basking in the glory of my new desk. Then i vacuumed the place my desk would go and put it there. Next, we set up my computer and I started downloading a new game.

We left the house and headed to PT. I did some standing, balancing, and sit to stands. I even stood up without using my hands, just my one leg!! Dad seemed pretty impressed.

Right after therapy, we met my favorite PT and her husband for dinner. We ate at On the Border and had wonderful conversation! They're about to have a baby and she said I need to get cleared to hold a newborn. Ha! I can't wait; I love babies!! I figure I can hold her baby with my right arm and use the left for support.

After dinner we went home and I played my new game, exercised, and now going to bed. My bed, the perfect ending to a perfect day!

And that's my fabulous life!!

Day 136

Today was a lazy day. We got up late and sat around the house until we decided to do something. We ate black eyed peas (for luck). Clearly I didn't eat enough last year... Here's to hoping this year is waaaaaaay better than 2012. We had a few errands to run.

We went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Half Price Books, and Sports Authority. I got 2 new books; one is a spin off of another series I read and the other starts a new series. Dad got a few books too. I think he's already read the series, but is going to read them again. Also, Dad got a new jacket which he's been looking for!!

After shopping we headed home and watched some shows (Vampire Diaries). Dad built a wonderful fire and we all vegged out and enjoyed our evening. I have a doctor's appointment, physical therapy, and possibly a dinner with a friend tomorrow!!

And that's life...
