Wednesday was fairly uneventful. I read while it rained outside all day. Then got up and ready for Youth. I enjoyed some good conversation with my kids as we didn't have an actual lesson. It was great!!
Mom worked late, so I treated Dad and I to some Whataburger- yummy!! We watched the Rangers and read the rest of the night. As I LOVE reading, it was a pretty awesome day!
Thursday I got up and my prosthetist came to check on my leg. She shortened it, changed out the releasing lever and pins, gave me anti-perspirant, and trimmed my liner. It is amazing how great it feels today!! Also, I think Dad and I have figured out that I don't always put my liner on straight. If the pin is not straight down when my stump is, then it's almost impossible to get the leg on. This has been very helpful insight.
I made a sopapilla cheesecake for my PT (ok, and me) today. She gave up sweets for Lent and I had one about the time it began; I told her I would make her one once Lent was over. So today I brought her and her assistant some!
When I went to PT today, my brace guy met with me early. He fixed my brace so maybe it won't hurt me so much. I've apparently lost weight in my arm, which is a good thing! During actual PT, she had me put my weight on my right leg and touch a foam pad on the floor with my left foot. Very challenging, but I eventually got the hang of it!! Then, she had me stand on a foam pad with my left leg forcing me to bear weight on my right leg. It was a long session, but I think I'm gaining trust.
Afterwards, Mom and I went to Red Lobster for dinner and then to Albertson's for some grocery shopping. Seeing as I was wearing Bermuda shorts/capris and everyone could see my leg, I'm proud of myself!! When we got home, we watched some TV, I read, then went to bed.
And that's life...
P.S. My hair looks amazing thanks to the TLC my BFF gave it the other day!!

Monday and Tuesday
Monday I woke up and cleaned the living room, my bathroom, and my room. This is no small feat considering it takes two hands to use my wheelchair. Ha! They all three look great!! I made some yummy pasta with pesto, feta, goat Gouda (from that cheese place), and roasted peppers. Yum!
Next I made a menu for our family. We've talked forever about making a menu to follow for a week or month, but we've never actually done it. So I made a menu with a grocery list for a week! I feel so accomplished!! Mom calls and asks me if I want to run errands with her, I say yes and start getting ready.
We went to Good Will, Michael's, Walgreens, Kroger, and Papa Murphy's. I got this stuff called PB2 from Kroger that is peanut butter and chocolate powder. I've seen great recipes for it on Pinterest. I got some new nail polish and eye liner at Walgreens. We got delicious pizza from Papa Murphy's for dinner!
We watched the Ranger's game, ate pizza, watched some Food Network, then went to bed. Dad also did some wound care and my leg looks great!! Still not 100%, but we're getting there! I sent my ortho a pic of my leg and he said it looked pretty good.
Tuesday I lounged in my bed for most of the day... I read and checked all the important stuff I'm supposed to. When Dad finally got home- I was really bored today- we were off to PT! My PT had me stand most of time and try to "trust" this right leg. It's really hard to do! It hurts a little and is a bit uncomfortable, but mostly I'm scared my muscles in my leg won't hold me. I'm working on it... My PT and her assistant said the pic of my leg looked good, too. They were excited to see me standing and to see my new leg!
After PT, we got healthy smoothies at Smoothie King. On the way, we saw my grandparents driving the same way we were. They were headed to my cousin's baseball game. Then, I got my hairs cut by one of my BFFs. We've been friends for about 20 years, since daycare. Haha! It was so so nice to see her and catch up!! Next, we got some Rosa's Cafe and headed home to eat.
We watched the Ranger's game and read for the rest of the night. I am so exhausted. It harder to stand than I remember. Go figure... It's been almost 8 months, so it should come as no surprise.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
Friday I woke up and dropped Dad off at school. I was sooooo sore from Thursday's therapy. Ugh! I drove myself to therapy, unloaded myself out of the car, and did AMAZING in PT!! I am impressed. Ha! I did lots of standing stuff and balance things. She had me do this new thing where I touch the top of a cone in front of me while standing on one leg. I also played zoom ball, which is a football on two strings and you pull them apart to make it go to the other person. It was fun!!
After therapy, my prosthetist came and brought me my leg!! She had me stand in the parallel bars and adjusted everything. Yay yay yay!! I am now the PROUD owner of a zebra and glitter leg! Woohoo!
Next, I went back to Dad's school. I hung out in his classroom and all the kids asked questions and saw my leg. They seemed pretty excited... He also showed it off to all of the staff! Haha! He is so proud!! I stood up for his principal and office staff. I wore my leg for about 5 hours total.
I have figured out that I don't really like being the center of attention. Now, with my crazy friends that doesn't bother me as much. When other people make me the center of attention, though, I blush and am a little uncomfortable. It's not too bad, I just don't know what to do with myself. Haha!
We ran some errands after school. We went to Walmart, the pharmacy, and Braums. Yum! When we got home, we watched a movie then headed to bed. I was exhausted!!
Saturday I got up and got ready. Dad and I went to Home Depot and I bought some flowers and a planter! I'm so excited about it!! Ha! Next, we met Mom for lunch. That was delicious! Dad and I split fajitas. We headed home after that.
Then I went to go see my seester! We hung out until it was time to meet my BFF for dinner at a different food park. It was soooo good! Although, we will probably go earlier next time because people were closing and selling out. We tried all new trucks this time! We ate at Gastro Bomber, Fred's, and Red Jett Sweets-duh. The park was NOT wheelchair friendly. When we got there, two men had to help us get over the rocks onto more solid ground (can you say uncomfortable?!). We hung out and talked for quite a while. I had forgotten the pin to my liner, so Mom brought that to me. However, I couldn't even get my silly leg on!! Stumpy McGee was swollen again...
Then we went to a bar and talked until we were ready to go somewhere else. Mom went home, so the three of us that were left went to Sister's apartment and continued talking about everything. When it started getting late, I went home.
This morning I woke up and realized I slept through church. I turned my alarm off last week for Sunrise Service and forgot to turn it back on... Ugh! I got ready and headed to Youth.
Tonight was game night. All the kids brought snacks and I brought drinks. We played some games and had a chill night. It was really enjoyable! I wore my leg so my kids could see it! A friend of mine brought me some left over Easter candy she had and I gave it to my youth. They loved it!! Mom stayed for part of Youth, and then came back and got me later. We went home and started watching some shows- the ones Dad doesn't watch because Dad was golfing today. During one of the shows, I hear an ice cream truck... I think maybe that's part of the show, but I pause it to check. It wasn't! A real ice cream truck came down our street and Mom got us ice cream!! Haha!
When Dad got home, we watched the Rangers game, ate dinner, and went to bed.

Wednesday and Thursday
On Wednesday I watched some shows to get them off the DVR. I watched some New Girl, Once Upon a Time, and Smash (although I'm over Smash now...).
My eyes have been bothering me a little, so I just wore my glasses all day. I looked up ways to do make up with glasses. Haha! Who does that? Me. I might have stayed on Pinterest for quite a while dreaming of the life I hope to one day have.
I got ready and went to Youth. It was raining on the way... Bad. It wasn't pouring, but it was enough for me to hold my breath almost the whole way there. I always enjoy the amazing teachers there!! They made me feel better somehow... Maybe more normal? I don't know. They helped. We had a pretty good lesson with our few kids.
After youth, I decided to try two mask recipes, one for my face and the other for my hair. BIG MISTAKE! The face one was fine, but the hair one was messy and goopy and stinky. Both involved eggs, and the hair used oil and vinegar too... My hair doesn't look any shinier and the stupid apple cider vinegar got in my eyes and made them all red and burny!! Epic fail. Don't try this... Ever... Anywhere... For any reason. Yuck. I headed to bed when that disastrous ordeal was over.
Thursday morning I got up and got a text from my leg guy. He said he put something special on my final leg!! Woohoo! I love surprises so I'm excited and can't wait to see it!!!
I watched some Bones and Castle today while I waited for Mom to get home. She finally got here and took me to PT. I totally rocked it today!! A student was observing my awesome PT and he said that I was lifting more weight than some of the guys out in the gym. Haha! Beast mode. I did my lat pulls, bicep curls, tricep push downs, and shoulder squeezes standing up with more weight than normal!! Yep. I'm awesome! I told the student my story and he told me that I was strong and that he was impressed. Believe it or not, I forget how far I've come sometimes... Then I did my push ups and a new thing on the total gym (piece of equipment). I had to lay on sliding board thing and basically do squats, with one leg, then heel raises. It was pretty intense. I should've had Mom take pictures... I will next week.
My sister met us at PT and we went with her to the doctor. She has to get her PT/INR, blood thickness level, taken ever-so-often. Mom also got blood drawn. All my blood stayed in my body where I like it to be. I found out today that I tested NEGATIVE for the Factor 5 Leiden blood clotting disorder!! Woot! Now I have to get tested again, to be sure, before I know for positive I am good to go.
Dad was golfing tonight (at my insistence) and so the three of us went to dinner. We went to Pastafina which was very tasty! We laughed and talked about lots of things. I had such a good time!!
When Mom and I got home, I had a little incident. I was trying to transfer to the rolling chair (office chair) in the bathroom, but had forgotten to lock the brakes on one side of my wheelchair. So my stump hit the ground for a second while I regained my balance. Scary!! I cried, but luckily Mom was there to comfort me. It freaked me out more than anything and I just needed my Mommy to tell me it was all better. She looked at my leg and it seems fine, so we're all good. Whew!
I get my leg tomorrow when I go to PT in the morning, yes morning, by myself. I can do it!!
Since I have no pictures (shocking, I know) enjoy these funny things! I know I do!!

Monday and Tuesday
On Monday I got up and got ready to go to lunch with a dear friend of mine. She got here, loaded me in, and we were off! We decided on sushi which was a GREAT choice!! You're not going to believe this, but I actually remembered to get a picture with her!! Haha! We talked of our lives, her recent blogging conference, and all sorts of things. I had so much fun!! She dropped me off at home and I took a little nap until Dad got home.
I got a phone call from my leg guy that he wanted to come get my leg to make it final! So I put my leg on and he stopped by and we chatted a bit. He told me about my leg, what I should look for when I start using it more, and what he would change. He's a hoot! He took my leg and fabric with him to be returned later this week.
After he left, Dad and I read our books until Mom came home and made us dinner. Then, Mom and I watched some Whitney while Dad "read" (aka slept). I took a shower and headed to bed.
Tuesday morning I got up and got ready for a dietician appointment. A friend came and got me and took me to said appointment. So we talked the whole way there and back, of course. The dietician didn't really tell me anything I didn't know... Portion control and variety are key. She asked a lot of questions about my nutrition which apparently isn't really that bad.
After the dietician, which I have to see 2 more times, we went to the Magnolia Cheese Co. for lunch. They have cheese, duh, that is mostly local. We got a "plank" which is a sampler of 5 different cheeses, some sauces, roasted grapes, mangoes, and plum, San Saba pecans, honey comb, and fig jelly with candied citrus peel. We also got bread to try the cheese on. I liked one so much I bought some to take home!! Random, but the bathroom was so cute and the whole establishment was wheelchair accessible and shabby chic. It was delicious!!
It started raining on the way home. So when I got home, I took a short nap then read until Dad got there. When Dad did get home, we went to his eye appointment. That place is not really wheelchair accessible... Ugh. We made it work, though. After TWO AND A HALF flippin' HOURS, we headed home and watched the Rangers play. We decided to run and get Whataburger for dinner and left my wheelchair at the house. Haha! That always cracks me up.
When we got home, we finished the game and went to bed. What a great day!

Friday, Saturday, and Easter Sunday!
So I was debating about telling you all this, but I promised the good, the bad, AND the ugly. So here it is: when we ran out of gas on Thursday, I was upset. Duh. We were one exit away from our exit and in a median of highway and an entrance ramp; cars were passing us on both sides. However, Mom got out of the car and I couldn't see her which freaked me out. I started thinking about how if she got hit I wouldn't be able to do anything and couldn't help her. Or that the car would get hit and I or she would be hurt. I started to hyperventilate a little bit and began crying and begged her to get in the car. It was not pretty. We got picked up and I was ok after that. It was an adventure because I had to transfer, ON THE HIGHWAY, in my wheelchair. Haha! My life...
Friday we got up and went to run some errands. My leg was swollen, so I couldn't wear my leg. I need to figure out a name for it... Dad took me to look at cars. I didn't buy one, but I think I know what I want- which is good! Then we ate some lunch at Fridays. We split a steak. Yum!! Next we went to HEB to get some last minute Easter stuff. It was a pretty good day! I did have a touch of a headache for a good chunk of the day. Boo!
When we got home, we ate dinner and watched some shows. I baked some cupcakes and in less than half the time they were burned... I think something is wrong with our oven.
Saturday I went and watched my Youth set up the Easter egg hunt at our church. They laid the eggs out and then helped run it. I sat in the car because I couldn't get down in the mud. It was a gorgeous day for the hunt!
After that, Mom had to get some more last minute Easter stuff we forgot. Then we went to her school so she could help someone with some work. I called Dad to come get me and he did.
I went home and made MORE cupcakes, and then decorated them. They are SO cute! Check out the pics.
Sister called and wanted me to come hang out with her, so Dad let me take his car and go see her. I gave her the adorable workout shirt I ordered for her and two other little things I found that I thought she'd like. We decided to go eat at the local food park. We ate from 4 of the 6 trucks!! Ha! I had a delicious burger from Gourmet Bites, she got scrumptious tacos from Salsa Limon, we got beignets (French donuts) from Cajun Tailgators, and cupcakes from Red Jett Sweets! It was a fantastically amazing meal. We ate at the park outside. Yum!!! I got a peanut butter cupcake and a bacon and maple cupcake. Interesting, right? I thought it was pretty unique and good! The bacon was salty and evened out the maple sweetness. Delish!
We decided that we would go to a movie next. We saw G.I. Joe Retaliation. I thought it was good!! I'm a little bias, though, because I love love LOVE The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) and Channing Tatum... Drool. Plus, they were in uniform. Could I ask for more?! Haha! Ok, enough. It was a good movie even though the plot and villains were a little confusing to us. After the movie, I dropped Sister off and headed home.
When I got home I helped Mom finish her Deviled egg chicks. They are precious!! We did such a good job! More pics. I also learned that my chick cupcakes had melted a little bit because of the humidity... I definitely shed some serious tears for that.
I finally headed to bed about 1... Ugh!
Sunday morning I got up at the crack of way too early (5am) to watch my Youth perform the Sunrise Service that they have worked so hard on. They did such an amazing job!! I am so proud of them. After the service we headed over to the building to eat some breakfast. It was so good! I gave out eggs to my Youth and hid the leftover ones in their room!! Hehe! Next, we went to the church proper and had a beautiful service. I didn't wear my leg to church because I wanted to wear it to the family Easter later; I did wear the leg to see my family.
We went home, took a nap- 5am came waaaaay too early. We went to my Aunt's house to have our Easter meal and show off our cute culinary skills. It was fun to see the kids (cousins) with the excitement of the day and hunting eggs. Plus, it was one of my cousin's birthday today!! It was so nice to see everyone and enjoy the most delicious meal I've had in a while!! We had sausage, Deviled eggs, chips and salsa, ribs, brisket, ham, potato salad, green bean casserole, beans, cornbread, asparagus (shout out to Little Elm Farm- yum!!), Black Forest cake, brownies, and chick cupcakes. Oh. Em. Gee. Delish!! My aunt, uncle, 2 cousins, other aunt, other cousin, Mom, Dad, Sister (and boyfriend), grandparents, grandma, and uncle's dad were all there. Talk about a full house and a full heart! It was lovely!!
When we got home I... You guessed it! Took a nap! Haha! I was soooooo tired! Then I got up to watch some of the Ranger game!! Woot! I'm going to read some and then go to bed. What a great end to Holy Week and a fabulous three day weekend!!
He is risen indeed!

And that's life...

Keep Calm It's Leg Day!!!
Wednesday- I got up and went with Mom to her doctor's appointment, then we went to mine. My leg looks awesome!! We are hoping that in 2 weeks (or before) it will be 100%. I am so impressed with the progress it's made!! This A Cell is A-Mazing! See what I did there?
After the appointments, Mommy took me home. I took a nap because I was tired- I had no sleep due to excitement- and my stomach was... Well... Just blah. Ugh. So I napped until church time.
Tonight at church, we talked about Holy Week. Very interesting topic. The kids were waaaaaay off task, though. Ha! I think they are already itching for another break... It was a good lesson overall, and we tried our hardest to teach them what they need. One girl seemed to have all the answers- she rocked!! After it was over, I stayed and talked to the associate pastor about the Sunrise Service.
Dad took me and my neighbor girl home Mom had dinner waiting since she had expected us earlier and we read and chatted while and after we ate.
I tried real hard to get some sleep, but I'm just SO STINKIN' EXCITED!!!!
Thursday- This morning I got up all excited because I had an appointment to get my leg today!! I got ready and then the lady got here (to the house). She explained how to use the liner and how to put the leg on. When Dad got here, on his conference, I STOOD UP ON TWO LEGS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 8 MONTHS!!!
I have to pick something to put on the socket part of the leg. I'm thinking something zebra-y and sparkly! Ha! I got to use my right tennis shoe for the first tome today, too!! Like she had to take the papery stuffing out and take a tag off. Haha! This is not my final leg, it's just my test socket. I'm not even supposed to really have kept the leg, except she is going to let me try it out for a week and see if it's what I want/need. I will be in a pin-lock system. That means that my liner that I roll on my leg has a pin in the bottom. No, I do not have one attached to my leg which is kind of what I originally thought. I Google a lot. So, this pin then fits in my socket and locks into place. After that I'm good to go! The bottom of Stumpy McGee should never touch the bottom of the socket. The thought is that my leg is somewhat "suspended" in my liner in my socket. The pressure is around my leg, like a band. The sensation is all new to me- duh! However, I think I'll get the hang of it. Pretty sweet, huh?
I ate some new protein today that got two thumbs DOWN!! I couldn't even finish it. Blech!
Mom came and got me for therapy after I watched some Mad Men on Netflix. On the way, we ran out of gas. A friend came and rescued us, and I wasn't even late to therapy!! At therapy, my PT was so excited about my leg! We did some arm stuff, then stood the rest of the time. She had me shift my weight back and forth and catch the ball. When I'm standing "correctly", I feel like I'm leaning to the right, so I kept trying to catch myself on the bars. It is hard for me to trust my leg strength and that the socket will hold me, although I know it will. We had a little trouble with me putting all my weight on it, straightening my knee, and dropping my right heel. It's all new. Yay yay yay!! Sorry about all the pictures... I'm a little excited.
*GROSS OVERSHARING* I took off my liner and a whole lot of sweat poured out. Apparently the silicone makes me sweat... Like a lot a lot. Ew. It was enough to make a splash on the ground. Gross!
When we were done with therapy, and got some gas, Mom and I went to JoAnns to pick out fabric for my "final" leg. It is so cute!! It's zebra and glittery! Then we went to Michael's and I got a couple of awesome frames that I will "Pinterest up" and some cupcake liners for Easter. Fun fun!!
We met Dad for dinner at Outback and had a lovely dinner. Then we all got home and went to bed.
And that's my amazing, wonderful, exciting, outstanding life!!
